I have a 2022 SR5 with the Android Auto The thumb drive that worked on my previous 2018 SR radio does not work on my 2022. It is an older thumb drive and seems to be too slow and is bogged down.

What is the minimum upload/download speed I should look for with a thumb drive to use my own MP3 music?

USB 2.0 but USB 3.0 are cheap enough.

Anything older than USB-C is ancient tech. Any USB drive using the square interface maxes at 3.0 (sometimes 3.1) and is cheap enough. Those should work with the system regardless of non-match.

    I use a thumbdrive... Don't need/want 600 songs stored on my phone.

Why not? The phone does not care. I have about 10,000 songs on my iPhone and it becomes my personal, hand picked radio station whenever I drive and the bluetooth connection is automatic and very solid.

you're likely facing a formatting mismatch. that's always plagued usb drive readers like that. try reformatting the drive to a different variant. also consider that your music files might be in an incompatible format as well. some radio's are extremely picky about type and folder arrangement.

I was just going to do a like but you nailed it. also subscribing to spotify is not for me.
those 600 songs fit easy on a USB stick. I use a mini size USB so it does not stick out.

I don't have my phone glued to my hip, nor do I want it to be. My thumb-drive just lives in my truck and I never have to think about it.... Which means I never get panic-striken about forgetting it after I've already left the house.
