Hi all, first time posting but have used this forum several time to figure out issues I have had with my truck
My 08 Tacoma will not go into dive, engine runs fine, I can use the override button to get it into drive. I have replaced the fuse, replaced the Brake Light Switch and still having the same problem. I had my truck serviced a week or so ago, mainly just a tune up.

I have read all the threads about this and tried all the fixes, still no luck. Just looking for some other suggestions before taking in to get serviced, as I live in a resort area and everyone is weeks out to get into and the other option is driving to Denver with no break lights.

first thought is checking that the switch position didn't slip, I seem to remember a similar post that the swick had slipped
multi-meter (or test light) to check for voltage
    look for wire damage

So you have no brake lights at all or 3rd brake light?

It's a simple circuit, power comes from the STOP Fuse (10A) to Pin 2 (Green/White) of the Stop Light Switch and goes out on Pin 1 (Blue).

Get you a test light and see where your losing your power.

I plan on checking some wiring tomorrow and see if there is anything obvious. I tried to figure out how to adjust the break light switch but not seeing anything obvious. I saw some things with different models where you could adjust them, the one for my truck doesn't have the option to adjust the switch. If its adjusting something else I may need some professional help with that. Thanks for the info

I can't remember for sure but I don't belive there is any adjustment on 2nd gen brake light switches.

Easy enough to test it with a test light, if you got power going in but none coming out with the plunger fully out then the switch is junk.
