I'm looking to buy a high-clearance rear bumper with duel-swingouts. Are there any out there that have it designed so that the swingouts are removeable? I'm thinking that would save a little weight when not needed around town.
I don't want just a bumper replacement. I want a style that offers protection on the side to the rear tires.

    Thanks

Most swingout bumpers you can remove the swingouts. Usually they are held on to the bumper by a spindle on the bumper side, or sometimes a through bolt. Unbolt them, remove bearings, and remove the arms.

That being said, for the amount the arms weigh versus pain taking them off and storing in the garage (i.e. probably just getting in your way), you'll probably find leaving them on is easier. The mpgs you'll save by removing them can probably be measured in hundreths or tenths, not significant.

I have a dual swingout Mobtown bumper and remove the swingouts when in town... tbh they're off for most off-roading stuff too. I use my bed a lot and they're unnecessarily cumbersome for frequent bed access.
