You're saying 2.25 in the blue circle to a 3 in the red?

I see the URD ones pop up every now and then. Otherwise not really that complicated to throw together.

    the old
the old spec u exhaust kit they used to sell right? Any idea how this compares performance and sound wise to the roostfactor design

I was talking just the Y pipe. Nothing really fancy about the rest of it.

Going up to 2.5" for the y-pipe, reduces the scavenging, and exhaust velocity. Causing a loss in torque. This makes the engine perform more like a car engine. The graph looks strange, considering the fact that this engine was designed for higher torque output.

2.25" keeps it moving better. As well as 2.25×2 cross-sectional area is only a little larger than 3" cross-sectional area. That combo works best.

This is the 2nd Gen kit. I have the newer 3rd gen kit (edit - I should clarify.. When I say 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen kit I'm referring to the generation of the exhaust design, not the Tacoma Generation) which uses a much larger 2in/1out resonator that contains the merge collector for the secondaries. The rest of the kit is the same functionally. I don't have pics (its in storage) unfortunately.

I'm planning to use it for my "1GR-FE N/A Dyno Testing" series I'm going on this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1gr-fe-single-vvti-dyno-testing-by-ott.759616/

I've used the Gen 2 system (the one pictured in my quote) previously.

    I've run the following setups:
Stock Exhaust Manifolds - SpecU (Gen 2) exhaust
SpecU EL LT Headers - SpecU exhaust
SpecU EL LT Headers - Stock Ypipe - Stock Exhaust
    SpecU EL LT Headers - JFR EL Y w/ 3" Exhaust/Keg Muffler

My favorite N/A setup was the Headers w/ stock y and exhaust.

I don't think there's a major difference between the JFR and SpecU setup exhaust wise. I think the JFR had a little more low end torque but that was all just seat of the pants feel.

Stock Y with cats purely for sound/smell reduction?

I'm happy with my setup. SpecU Headers > DT Y pipe > 2.5" Vibrant large resi > Flowmaster 70 series > Vibrant small resi.

It's got a good tone for a truck and no rasp. I tried a bunch of smaller mufflers and they all had the farty/raspy v6 noise. I am going to bump it up to 3" from the Y back when I swap in my built motor.

Sound mostly was the difference to me and a smidge more lower end. Honestly the best setup imo was stock header the jfr y and 3in car back. Sounded amazing

Yeah, it was a sound thing mostly. Truck was virtually stock sounding w/ a loss of only 5g/sec compared to a full exhaust. For the next round of testing I'm going to actually log exhaust back pressure stock and with the various systems we test. Should be interesting.

The stock manifold and cats really do keep the tone/rasp of this motor in check. My stock manifold SpecU setup was pretty “sexy” too. Very smooth..

100% , not gonna lie its really tempting to throw in a high flow cat in the next setup. I'll probably test one in place of the large vibrant resi.

Yeah I'm hoping with my turbo it'll sound closer to that setup.

Hi guys, I have a new venture we started up last summer: https://holyhorsepower.co. If anyone is looking for a procharger, I am working to get set up as a vendor for prochargers. It usually requires the purchase of a couple of kits. Send me a DM if so. Also anything else my boosted brother are looking for.

Do you still own the JFR/Have access to one? I have some measurement requests that would help me out a TON
