i had the exact same issue with mine, recorded it showed it to the dealership couldnt figure out why. they said it would be 2k for a replacement said screw that and went the aftermarket route. couldn't be happier. Carplay is such a refreshing feature

Finally got some sun here and removed the door panel while the speaker was malfunctioning. I took a home speaker and wires, touched the door speaker terminals and had music. So I think the signal from the head unit is good. I reset the door speaker terminals and connector and the door speaker was working. I think there may have been some corrosion in the connections. Before remounting the speaker cut out again and there was very faint music coming out of it, but the home speaker worked. I redid the connections and the door speaker was working again. Remounted the door speaker and reinstalled the door panel all the while the speaker was working OK. If it cuts out again I'll replace the speaker. Fingers crossed.

can also apply some anti-corrosion, and/or bend the terminals slightly to make a better contact within the connector.

Well that explains alot....my 2022 tacoma with non-jbl HU and my Audio Control D-4.800 processor/amp with GTO turned on........it will work well for a while and then usually after a cold night i will get in it and start it up and bang ....no audio....I removed the HU hoping to find a loose connector, no dice. Then once i disconnect the speakers and reconnect to the radio, start the truck up ...it works. I guess it resets the voltage trip and works for a while.
I will be redoing it now and turning off GTO and run a wire to a 12vdc keyed device like the cigarette lighter or something to kick on the Audio Control amp.

Destin, where is the Radio Detect button? It's probably a dumb question but I can't seem to find it.

I had an issue with my tweeters and mids cutting out. The problem ended up being the cheap monoprice rca cables. I bought some better ones and haven’t had a problem since.

I'm having some issues with my truck similar to this. It's a 2023 stock system, and the audio is cutting out through all speakers. I'm connected by usb and playing through bluetooth.

It doesn't seem to matter if i'm using android auto or the standard media player. I'm using spotify but it doesn't seem to matter if it is locally downloaded to my phone or streaming.

I couldn't find any relevant settings in the console. Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot this?

in case anyone else finds this thread and gives a care, i talked to the dealer while scheduling my first maintenance and was able to determine this is happening with projection mode only. bluetooth is fine. other devices make no difference. on official toyota sites, i could find suggestions to find a 'toyota certified usb cable' but the parts dept has no idea what that is. could be a faulty usb port, the cabling or the unit itself. either way its under warranty so i will stop complaining on the boards.

generally an 'official certified cable' is going to involve purchasing the cable from your official cell phone networks store, usually with a notation on it that it's 'certified to work on "____" network(despite cables not being tied to networks). i haven't seen a car-brand specific notation like that before, as most oem's are quick to offload that to responsibility to the phone manufacturer. no vehicle oem makes certified cables to my knowledge.

from my experience in car computers and extremely custom audio routing, audio interrupt issues are generally software error problems (incorrect settings, jumping between programs, or faulty drivers), and rarely ever a hardware issue like a cable, or connection.

cabling or connection issues are generally repeatable--ie: "when i hold the cable end at 90-degrees to the connector to the right, it cuts out, but holding it 90 degrees to the left, up, down, the audio doesn't cut out".

I appreciate you sharing your experience @soundman98

I took my truck in for its first service and talked to the technicians about this, they mentioned this happened last year with the Rav4s and there's typically an update to the system. He agreed with your perspective, probably not hardware. i'll just be patient for now

For anyone who is interested, I have an update on this.
I kept asking the dealer if there are any software updates for the head unit and I was getting nowhere. I shared some dashcam clips with the dealer that captured the music and GPS audio dropping and today Toyota agreed to replace the head unit.

It took a long time to get someone at the dealer who would listen and have the patience to help, but finally making some progress.
