When I first picked up my 2023 Tacoma a few weeks ago I noticed it was not shifting smoothly. I hooked up my scan gauge 3 and the ATF temp and TC temps were on the high side. I took it to the dealership and they test drove it and ran tests, etc and told me everything was good. I went back again and demanded that they go through the whole process of checking the ATF level. Once the dealership confirmed that my Tacoma was shipped 1 qt low on transmission fluid I called Toyota and told them that it was not running right since I bought it and the ATF fluid temp was running on the high side and I was worried because I do not know if any damage was done to the transmission while it was running low on ATF.

The first rep called me back about 5 days after my first call and went over the details with me again and said that they verified everything with the dealership.

The second rep called me back about 3 days after that, sounded like she was from like a risk management department. She asked me what I wanted and would I be satisfied with? I told her just an extended warranty. She said she would pass that on to heR manager and see what they would do.

Third call was just now, they are giving me the 10 year Platinum warranty for free!

So if your was low on ATF or shifting funny, make the dealership check the ATF, verufy its low and call Toyota and ask for the extended warranty. It Woks!

I'd run my tranny one quart low for three weeks in exchange for a good 10 year warranty at the drop of a hat.

Toyota took care of you for their mistake in around a week. Good on them. These kind of posts make me happy to continue to give them my money.

They took care of you hoping you’d be trading in for the 4th gen lol. They did this for me as well in the past. Amazing company

An amazing company would put a stop to trucks leaving the factory with low fluid. This has been going on since the 2016 model. Along with the rear brake drums being warped, both that are still happening on the 2023 models. Bring on the "boo birds".

Good work. My only comment would be that if you are going to complain it's best to know what you want them to do to make it right before you call. My wife worked in customer service for years and she has told me a number of times that people who tell CS what they want are more likely to get it than people who aren't really sure.

I checked mine when I first got it home and was a little over 1.2QTs low. I didn’t notice any issues shifting and the only other low item was the diff needing a half QT I checked recently.

I don’t think a QT is going to cause issues, but it’s a good thing you demanded they check it anyway. Mine is Mexico built BTW.

200+ but not dropping quickly when slowing down. TC would stay hot and fluid temp would slowly start dropping.

Why can't a huge company like Toyota just put the car together correctly in the first place. All these wasted phone calls. Giving out warranties. Just build the truck correctly the first time. What a concept.

Yep. This was pretty common in early 3rd gen days. My 2016 after a new rear dif ended in the same. Still made me have faith in Toyota though I’m thinking otherwise these days when I see how they’re handling Tundra issues on those forums.

Great they gave u a 10year warranty . I can see Toyota denying a warranty claim on the transmission when it implodes due to lack of fluid . If it’s low change the fluid to correct amount .
