I paid under a $1000 for mine in 17. I am keeping my truck and passing it down to my kid. I never liked the stock one so ordered my truck without it. The plastic parts on the latchbar are what failed. I assume from freezing in the winter and heat in the summer.

No money, all went to truck...
bakflip uses it's own rails. Will not fit on oem.

bakflip is by far better than the oem cover...

You can buy them considerably cheaper through a forum supporter. I paid less than 900 for mine.

Did you drill the drain holes in the bed or on the short sides? I was on the fence with that and ended up doing the bed. Thinking about adding a sealant around the drain tubes for my Bakflip cover. Any thoughts?

Just take a cut off wheel to those 6 pegs and the BakFlip should go on no problem

I enlarged the drain holes. I just let drain tube set right by the holes. I used to stick the drain tube in the hole but have bed mat that keep any equipment above the drains. I believe I enlarged the middle hole also. Be careful drilling the drivers side some have hit the fuel line. I have a long bed.

I remember driving 130 miles to pick up a used Tacoma bed mat for a great price. Stopped on the way for gas and coffee, then I turned around and drove home. Forgot all about the bed mat. You don't need a good reason for a road trip.

If you have time, make a road trip out of it. Take the fam with ya.

Going through a divorce, so a solo road trip might be nice. I would bring the kiddos though.
