Just purchased my new 2023 TRD to replace my 2009. Moved my purchase date up by a year as we all know the 2024 are going to 4 cyl turbos, yuk. Anyways my 2023 has one little storage compartment next to the bed power recepticle and thats it. My 2009 has double that size on both sides of the bed, sure handy for storing tie downs etc. Anyone out there ever add DIY the OEM unit to the newer Tacoma bed? Thanks.

Yes, its been done before. It's known that 2020 (i think, maybe 2019) and beyond Toyota just... stopped including them to increase savings. The space on the drivers side of the bed where it was originally is still an empty space. Just need to cut the plastic out of the way. I want to do this as well, but been trying to find a local junkyard that has a pre 2019/20 taco that they will let me rob one of...
