I am so happy to find TacomaWorld. Been in the dark this whole time but no longer.

EE by education so my mechanical skills are limited. But, given time, I can learn a lot here plus there is plenty of help.

Age wise, I am past the point of no return. I tried doing pushups a few years back and stopped at count one. :D

Looking forward to being here and learning how to do things myself; with help.

2002 Tacoma PreRunner SR5, 2.7L, 4-cyl, automatic transmission, lift kit and I love it!

Thanks and I won't. Getting the "engine check light" condition. Waiting on code reader that should be here tomorrow. Then if needed, I might have to replace the O2 sensor; its not the gas cap. Could be a few other things; hope nothing major.

Well welcome aboard, most common issues here are to do the ball peen hammer test on your frame to look for serious rust issues, and change out those ball joints, they are the weak point of the first gen's. Search around here for the "why" on both.

And check out Timmy the Toolman's videos. They are better than most "professional" quality videos that I've seen and they contain lots of detailed How Tos for Gen 1 trucks and Gen 3 4-Runners.

Welcome to TW! I bought my 2003 in 2019 and have done a lot of work (valve covers, timing belt, suspension, transmission valve body) on it myself with the help of the people on here. I second @Timmah! videos. Other than having a Toyota mechanic do the work in your garage, it doesn't get any better.

Well, with everyone's help here and my son, it is working with no errors. My son changed both the front and rear O2 sensors;that worked. I also asked him to change the MAF sensor since the part installed was refurbished and the plastic cap seemed to coming loose; the cap seemed to be sealed with glue. It just shows, you can't trust every shop. I bet I paid for a completely new part.

-Denso front and rear O2 sensors
    -Bosh MAF sensor
I'm still very happy to be on the road again.:bananadance:
