I’m kinda confused which harness I would need to purchase for this.

I already have the V5s and puddle pods installed and I like how they go dim and bright with the headlight DRLs. I just want a way to be able to turn them off. Preferably from the stalk.

For the install, would I need to open the door panels and mirror again for wiring, or would it tie into the existing harness from Meso?

I also have grill lights that are wired to turn on with ignition, but have no means to turn them off either. I was going to install a simple switch, but does the harness tie-in the grill lights as well? They do not have a bright/dim function, but it would be nice if the stalk turned off the grill lights and the V5 DRLs.

2022, Limited (with Full LED headlights)

    thanks,
    Keith

You’d start with one of each of these:

    https://fbchs.square.site/product/tacoma-2020-2023-led-t-harness-with-grille-lights/8

    And

    https://fbchs.square.site/product/meso-v5-switchback-mirror-turn-signal-t-harness/7

Then if you did not run the MESO v5 long harness through the door boots at install time and instead have the v5’s fed from the puddle harness, I have this option but I don’t know that I’ve ever sold one and I thing it’s better to have independent harnesses vs using the puddle harness for both.

I already have the V5s connected with the injectors from the puddle pod. I am also running a pair of larger gauge wire for ditch lights on my mirror arms, so I am just about out of space for trying to get another wire through the door boot and into the mirrors.

I think I would need all three.

A couple questions though. Would the DRLs in the V5 still go dim and bright with the headlight DRLs when set to auto on the stalk? Also how would the grill lights function? Would they turn off with the stalk, would they turn on with ignition, with headlights on, with running lights on, etc.

Would you consider a bundle deal for all three? Might be worth the ask.

    Thanks. I appreciate it.

Thats pretty neat seeing your light pods there. How’d you mount them?

I made the brackets out of 6061 T6 aluminum, and had them powder coated. It was a fun project.

The Diode Dynamics SSC1 Pro, and the Baja Designs S1 are the only pods that throw enough light in that small of a form factor.

If you’re tight on space and you desire DRL signal through the door boot and already using the puddle harness then yes, that’s the only valid use for the 3rd “puddle injector” harness.

The V5’s dim when the “parking light signal” is present. You can observe this right now. Set the stalk to parking lights not low beams and you should see DRL on the headlight is bright but v5’s are dim. The only way to match that is by swapping the parking light input for the v5’s to low beam signal. Which is not something I’ve ever done because I simply don’t think the v5’s are good enough of a match to the stock headlight reverse sequential and therefore not worth caring about when parking lights are on and low beams are off. Splitting the high and low beam signal is a bigger hassle, in my opinion simply not worthwhile, especially so since parking lights are available in the door and at the a pillar.

I do not offer any discounts, my storefront is set up for fixed pricing.

grille lights are a “logical or” of DRL and parking lights. So on anytime the stalk is not off, though strictly speaking that does mean either ignition is on or parking lights are on, hopefully the subtle details are pretty obvious.

That actually cleared up a ton. I think it is exactly what I’m looking for. It’s frustrating not being able to turn all these lights off.

Thanks. I think I’ll be ordering soon.

And feel free to make suggestions about how I can improve the product descriptions. I haven’t had a moment to revisit them and they sucked to begin with. Kinda doesn’t matter how much I understand them, the point is to make it clear to people like you what each one does and where / how it can make sense.

Kind of a strange space for most of them, very specific uses.
