Take a look at the post above yours. A sample of one but looks like plagued with issues.

What a shame. You would think by now GM would know better.

I’ll never buy another product from them again either.

    Just some things to consider;
1.) Toyota has always been know for reliability
2.) The first few years of a "new" version of any vehicle is bound to have issues
3.) Tacos are easy to mod from mild to wild to go off road - or not at all if you are staying on the hard ball

    Conclusion:
You can get a well proven highly reliable low mileage 3 gen Taco pretty cheap if you look a around.

It is a shame. GM quality has never been stellar, but the quality now is so poor. I was looking forward to the 3rd gen Colorado, liked the look and interior is nice, but the issues in early stages of ownership is a real problem, I can't trust it to be reliable and out of the shop enough to enjoy.

i would suggest waiting at least a year, preferably two, before getting a 4th gen tacoma. the first year of a model from every manufacturer almost always has its share of problems. if i am not mistaken, 2023 was the first year for the redesigned colorado.

i understand being dissatisfied, but if you remove the emotion and put it into perspective the 3rd gen tacoma has not been without its share of problems - oil leaks, diff whine, water leaks, coolant leaks, low tran fluid from factory, burnt valves, shudder and vibrations, misaligned body panels, squeaks and rattles, etc.

i realize the vast majority are without issues, but so are models from every manufacturer. you even posted you have owned GM vehicles for decades. i gotta assume most performed OK given the decades of ownership.

    my $.02.

Crazy how Ford and GM are still in business. Based on everyone’s stories here, every single vehicle ever made by these manufacturers is a lemon and should be destroyed.

The 350 V8 shortbed standard cab I had in the 80's was fun.

I hear you. Although I have bought many first year trucks. A 2000 Silverado, zero issues, 2008 2500hd LMM Duramax, 1 issue. 2011 3500 HD LML duramax, 2 emission issues.

There’s a S-10 on Cars and Bids right now I’m yearning after. 6.0 swap, Belltech drop, Wilwood big brakes, it’s the tits for sure. Problem is I think it’ll go higher than I would spend on a toy.

Back when they couldn’t even give them away, seems like we are heading into another fire sale with trucks in general. Seeing a lot of discounts, and the used market is looking good! Thinking of picking up another 3rd Gen Tacoma, finding bunches.

My brother-in-law (the older one) picked up one of those about 12 years ago for a song . . . . no wonder after pouring tons of $$$$ into it he finally practically gave it away. Then he went out and bought a 9x Lexus 400 (I think - the Big one) . . . yeah another money pit. I think he was trying to relive his glory days when he had a Hurst 442. Now he has hit rock bottom and drive a minivan . . . . sad.

Ahhhh yeah the glory days, see a bunch of my old high school friends doing that, we are all middle-aged. Sometimes nostalgia is best left in the past. I tend to go down that road, then think that was a stupid time in my life and almost landed in jail. Why I started buying sloooow ass Toyotas to enjoy the view. Lol!

(yeah, sense some sarcasm there ...)

It does seem that most everything they make has a flaw. After being in business for 100 years, why? I just looked at a used 2018 Silverado 5.3L V8 today with 6L80 transmission. Known to overheat and burn up the torque converter, which then destroys the entire transmission. Why? Lessons learned isn't a new concept. Anyway, my current gen Rav4 Hybrid has had faulty gas tanks that can't be filled because the pump shuts off, leaking roof racks that soak the headliner and carpets and get the airbags wet, and corroding rear motor cables that cost $8,000 to fix last I heard. I guess that makes Toyota junk and crazy they are still in business? Hmmm.

Both are terrible. The RAV4 doesn’t affect being able to drive it sounds but are annoying as hell for as much as a R4 hybrid costs. The Silverado, well… that’s just all bad.

It's been a while since I loaded up the Rav4 forum I was following but I believe if the rear motor cable goes bad due to connector environmental corrosion, you can't drive the car at all, it has to be towed. A 6L80 replacement is cheaper than replacing that motor cable. I'd buy an upgraded remanufactured 6L80, plus the cooler bypass kit to lower operating temperature, plus hptuner reprogramming, bulletproof. No options with the cable, new Toyota cable or nothing. Supposedly the new open connector shell design fixes the corrosion problem? Call me skeptical. The Corolla Cross Hybrid moved the rear motor cable connector into the spare tire wheel well and deleted the spare tire altogether. Poor engineering.

My buddy's Silverado did exactly that a few months ago. It's been a known problem for quite some time, but GM has done nothing to address the problem. This is inexcusable IMO and the reason I wouldn't buy another GM product.
