Hello all. I just picked up a 2022 with about 16k on it. It wasn't until about a week after getting it that I noticed a few oddities under the hood. The entire truck is pristine inside and out with the exception of the parts in these photos that are showing some rust. As non mechanic I'm not sure what those parts even are and if it's something to worry about. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I think the first 2 pics with rust are of the exhaust which is completely normal. That last one I'd guess is pretty normal

    First message rust…

I’m gonna guess you live in one of them there humid environments? What state you live in Florida? It’s all good don’t sweat it as you have a warranty.

How do you like your truck?

Is this a 4 cylinder? I don’t recognize the engine bay lay out?

I'm in VA but the truck was first sold in Texas according to Carfax. So far I love it. I had an 04 Tundra that finally bit the bullet with a bit over 350k on it.

also thank you everyone else for reply's, I feel a bit better now as it wasn't something I noticed when buying and it's the only rust I've seen in the whole truck.

I’m in Arizona, similar to Texas except Texas has been known to flood from time to time. Let me look at the engine, it’s a 6 cylinder but I’ll look at some similar areas.

    Alternator pulley nut

    Exhaust flang ..

Dry environment here, I think your truck is fine. The one nut in your pic you could “tooth brush” since it’s easy to reach.

Cast iron stuff, it will rust, unless you coat it with a corrosion inhibitor. But, it isnt a bad thing on cast iron really. Can't do much about the Exhaust manifold, it is going to do that, no matter what. If it bugs you, spray some fluid film on the rusted stuff, that isnt the exhaust. Ski

There’s not much you’ll ever have to worry about on your truck, besides maybe spending way too much on mods. Happily, you can permanently delete “surface oxidation on the exhaust manifold” from the already short list of concerns.

Now, go make some bad purchasing decisions, and be sure to post the pics.

Actually, that rust you see is providing a protective oxide layer on the cast iron surface which prevents further oxidation. In this case, the rust you see is your friend.
