I have a 2003 Tacoma xtra cab, automatic trans. I've been having an issue on very cold mornings (<20) where if I go to pass someone or the truck downshifts and gets high rpms climbing a hill, it will lose power. I don't just mean it's slow, I mean it doesn't move unless I put the accelerator to the floor and it is so under powered that I can barely maintain speed let alone climb hills. This issue stops when I pull over, turn the truck off and turn it back on. It is throwing no codes and has no check engine lights. Any ideas?

Needs a APPS sensor. Not available by it self. You have to buy a $450ish throttle body.

Hey John, thanks! I know a guy with a big pull-a-part operation. I'll give him a call.

sounds like you have a vary similar issue to me like but mine happens no matter the temp and is rather random but exactly as you describe. its like my engine and trans cant figure out when to shift. I also notice a little pinging only while pressing the gas pedal when the engine is bogging and not making any power but I have a keen ear sounds faint sound like spoons clapping together. how's your idle? mine is rough like I have a misfire I don't have a check engine light either.
