I know there is a ton of post about this and a recall but when I pull the VIN, it doesn’t say there is a recall. I’m at 50k miles and is this an easy fix?

It isn't a recall, it is a TSB.

Took mine in yesterday and they replaced the brake light and "cleaned" the headliner. Not sure I agree with their definition of clean. I sent them an email with pictures, hoping for a new headliner.

When cleaning the headliner you gotta clean the entire headliner or else you'll end up with stains and colors differences throughout

Yeah, you largely just push the stain around if you don't. My concern is that anywhere they cleaned has white crap on it now. Also you can still see the old stain line on the passenger side, they've now added a second stain line.

My access cab had a leaking 3rd brake light and now I'm a pro of getting rid of headliner stains lol

New brake light gasket fixed the leak. Thank fkn God cause cleaning a headliner is a PITA

They just called me and said that replacing the headliner is "problematic" because it doesn't fold so the are very hard to get in. My thoughts, they got a headliner in every single tacoma on the assembly line, so clearly it's not that problematic, albeit maybe its annoying.

They want me to take it back in so they can try steaming it out. My fear is the moisture and heat of steam weakening the glue and the headliner sagging down the road.
