My U joints blew out on the highway, shearing several things. I found a shop that able to test my driveshaft to ensure that the harmonic balance is still intact and there’s no bend or anything in it. They also are asking a reasonable price for the parts from Mount plate to mount plate. What I need to know is when I order the parts, what do I need to set the torque to on the bolts?

it’s hard to see, but the point where the joint on the driveshaft connects in is actually sheared, and barely holding the driveshaft.

You blew two u joints at the same time?? Damn

how did you not hear that getting worse

Those are high grade bolts, so real tight. Sometimes hard to get a torque wrench on them, some movement on them too

Someone will be along with factory specs

Yeah… it scared the crap out of me.

I felt something off for about 100 miles, but it happened rather quick. It had a little bit of a rattle when I bought it, but seemed to me like just the usual “older vehicle noise”.

I’m hoping I can use the torque wrench that’s on sale at harbor freight right now. It goes up to 150 ftlb.

Ill check later to be sure, but I think its 59 ft lbs for the 8 bolts, 4 on each flange. They're fine thread.

Get a 14mm swivel socket for the job

I was honestly expecting a higher ftlb. Thanks for the tip about the swivel socket though! Appreciate it!
