I remember not getting any real sleep for months. Woke up with the wife when it was feeding time. Taught half asleep. 9 years later - I am still tired. Worth it though.

My kids are 17 and 18 and I only get 5ish hours most nights. Of course it's been that way since they were born.

When out first baby came home, my wife said "he joined our family, we did not join his". He went on the schedule from day one (he also crawled across the crib the first night we were home from the hospital!).
1st month is the worst, they will need food every 2 hours, his stomach was not big enough to hold enough food for more. As he grew, sleeping stretches increased. By 6 months all of our kids slept from 7PM to 6AM. We supplemented with a bottle and started to add baby rice cereal (rice flakes) when they were able to have it. Cereal makes sleeping stretches to last longer. Just wait till you get a kid with GERD, projectile vomiting becomes a normal thing :rain:. Hospital chucks work great for disposable burping blankets in that case.

Shift work. One takes early. One takes late. Guarantees each of you at least 6 hrs of sleep each night if feeding every 2 hrs.
I went to bed at 2000. My wife gave the 0200 bottle and then she went to sleep.
