    No room :burp:

My buddy has a 5' x 10' table so I can just go to his house if I need to cut something bigger

We've cut stuff for each other if/when his table was down or mine was

i don't particularly like 'magnetic' on anything my wrenches touch. not that it will make them stick to surfaces, but magnetizing wrenches tends to make them strong enough to pick up steel grinding shavings and turn fuzzy, especially when the wrench inevitably ends up on the floor at some point.

i instead use harbor freights 'stubby wrench holder' there's also a good variety of colors on Amazon as well

Ernst makes the best wrench rails I have ever used. They make great socket organizers as well.

Mm good point, hadn't thought about that. Might have to swing through hazard fraught this weekend and pick a set up. I had looked at their wide ones before but didn't want the bulk and width of it, hadn't seen the stubby set though. For $8 it's worth a shot.

Oh. I hadn't looked at them before. Excuse me while I go down their rabbit hole of a website

Just found this thread and hope to contribute some over the next few months. In the process of cleaning out my current shop and will be moving to another home next month. The third garage bay is pretty deep and I’ll be using the end as a small shop.

I went to HD to find some good, sturdy bins to pack stuff in that wouldn’t be too heavy. They have a size I hadn’t seen before - 14 gallon. A little shorter and a touch wider than the 17 gallon containers and seem perfect.

I've gone little nuts on the tools the last couple months...

Years ago my Dad started to spend less time in his shop. Some time after college I came to visit and he'd given away all the woodworking tools. I couldn't believe it. "You what???" I told him if he gave away any other tools without letting me have first crack I'd be super sad. A few years later I was starting a business and asked if I could have the machine tools to help us prototype and he said of course. We trucked the mill and lathe up to my place. Then about 5 years ago I got his old bowling-lane-topped woodworking bench and chest of hand tools. The smell of the cabinet in the bench is crazy-nostalgic for me. Must be the wax. Those were the last things from his shop. He passed away in November.

As something fun for me and a nice way to keep memories of him close I decided to add woodworking back to the "shop" menu... This resulted in a little tool shuffle and significant savings draining. Drill press and '70's-era bandsaw moved to wood shop. New bandsaw and drill press for the metal shop. Sweet-as table saw for the woodshop. Trying to decide on getting a big rolling tool chest or doing some wall-mounted tool solution like pegboard or French cleats with diy tool holders... A little more stuff to clear out but it's going to be a very nice shop.

Nice shop! My condolences regarding your father. It is good that you have some tangible reminders of him to encourage the GOOD memories.

So sorry for your loss of your father. But I know he is proud of you for what you are doing with his tools. Obviously he made an impression on you as far as working with your hands. I'm 63 and I don't have anyone to will my shop and tools too. I told my Betty if I go before you just sell all the stuff, have an auction.

garage sales work great for tools. any time i see a garage sale sign with tools, i stop. just be extra-cheap on the prices, and everything goes fast.

look into husky's line of tool boxes. even their 'heavy duty' boxes are almost dirt-cheap compared to even harbor freights icon series. most are under $2k for the high end models, with the majority of them falling within the $500-1200 range, though they all go on sale quite often. i like them simply for the soft-close drawer slides, and the metal is more than sturdy enough for long heavy use.

When breaking up my Dad's shop after his death many years ago, I was feeling bad about Do I keep this or donate somewhere...he built this house etc etc. Then I noticed some pieces of tape with 25cents, 1dollar and so on. He'd been picking up tools at yard sales. Guilt resolved, maybe he used it a lot, or maybe he just bought it to help out someone at a yard sale.
