    I feel personally attacked.

In regards to the new design, some good some bad. The gloss fender flares are hilarious and a serious design flaw due to how easily they'll get scratched up with any sort of after market tire and/or mud sand use.
The facia...meh. Kinda reminds me of a Bluegill fish or a bulldog with an underbite lol.
I also don't love the back of the cab. Too blunted and bland.
So overall I guess I'm not a fan of the look but do like the motor choice purely for mpg/power.

    This.

Exterior-wise, I think the 3g is the best-looking Tacoma of all time, while the 4g is the worst. Typical 3g owner mentality probably.
Interior-wise, it's gorgeous, especially the higher trims.

Exited for the new power platforms, as if the 3g had a hybrid option I likely would have gone that route; but really hate the exterior styling to the point where the aftermarket likely won't even be able to save it. Looks like they tried shrinking the new Tundra (which is beautiful) while combining it with a Colorado, and I think Colorado's are absolutely hideous. Just doesn't work for me at all overall and I'm very glad I didn't hold out.

Like a lot of others have mentioned, there are just too many angles/straight lines, and now I'll be looking for the "dent" when I see one in person for the first time.

The non-scoop hoods are much better, but I can't get over this series of erratic angles from center of hood to fender flare. It's the most unnecessary transition from flat on top of the hood (scoop) to vertical on the fender flare that I've ever seen on a vehicle.

Flat, angle down, flat, angle down, flat, slight angle up, flat, angle down, sloping angle down, steeper slope down, vertical, steep angle down, vertical. The 3rd gen does all of these transitions much better.

Other than that, the dent, and the entire rear end, I don't mind it, but take away all those things and you're basically back to the 3rd gen anyways.

I'd love the rear coils and fully boxed frame, but those alone are the only things I wish my 3rd gen had that the 4th gen adds.

Looks are certainly subjective and highly dependent on mods, trim, color, etc. and I usually prefer Toyota's post-facelift versions so there's hope they'll make some subtle changes later in its life, so I'm sort of in wait-and-see mode until I see enough on the roads.

For what it's worth, here's how I'd rank all gens currently in styling:
    1. 3rd Gen (2016-2019), prior to LED headlights (not a fan of the sequential turn signal situation) with the all red tail lights, but newer (2020+?) grills are 1000% better than the cheese graters.
    2. 1st Gen (1998-2000)
    3. 1st Gen (1995-1997)
    4. 3rd Gen (2020+)
    5. 2nd Gen (2012-2015)
    6. 1st Gen (2001-2004)
    7. 4th Gen (2024+)
    8. 2nd Gen (2005-2011)
Probably missing a few facelifts here and there.

Pre Tacoma, slot in everything from 1975-1994 on the list above #5 (post face lift 2nd gen).
