Center tray light?

Mine isn't coming on. Looks like it could be difficult to replace. Should I take it to the dealer or is there a trick to replacing it?

I would go to dealer Toyota should take care of it.
Was it ever on? Maybe it’s a setting.

 

I mean getting behind it is easy with taking off the dash panels. Only takes a minute. Just don’t know if it’s a bulb issue or wiring. Maybe try dealership and see how it goes. I’ve had some luck with the dealer ship fixing things for free I broke.
First time I replaced my maps with leds I messed up the mechanism that turns the light on and off and they gave me a free be.

 

The manual says nothing other than that it's there. It says in detail when the other lights come on.

Are you talking about above the qi charger? @TRSAndrew found the pt# and used those for footwell lights.

 

Also this may be silly but does it only turn on at night when the headlights are on. Are you testing it during the day.

 

Mystery solved. It comes on with the lights, running/headlights. I replaced the others with LED's and I've got to a few left over and was going to do that one but I think I'll leave it as is. It's not bright enough to be useful. I keep my cellphone there and don't really need to see it.

 

I truly hate that light and wish there was a way to turn it off! (besides not having lights on but they are necessary at night)
If anyone how's how to turn it off please tell!!
I've looked in the owners manual with no luck whatsoever.
The reflection from my phone screen is annoying, even if I turn it over it still bothers me greatly!
It's the stupid little things that get to me, I may just cover the damn thing with duct tape.

Hardly anyone else has this problem, since the qi charger is nearly useless and their phone is elsewhere.

 

I just got my Taco a week ago and have noticed the charger is worthless! I still like to keep my phone there since it's close to the CarPlay usb.

Plus the light still annoys me because I know it's there and I hate it. Looks like tape it will be.

It is a stupid design; if that charger worked, one would have their phone laying screen (reflective) side up.

You could dim it with painters tape,,, that would clean up easier if you wanted to remove it.
I use a permanent marker on some home appliances,,, it actually works well! It blocks some of the light, but since some comes through, the indicator lights on xyz appliance are still functional. No one seems to notice.

 

Excellent idea, I have sharpies close by.

 

Get access to the backside of the lamp and unplug the connector.

Had to see what I was dealing with, so I stuffed the phone in and took a pic, looks like an easy pop the cover off and remove the light, or otherwise disable it. Didn't have a tool to do it as I wasn't home, but I will get it done soon.

 

Disconnected mine. So damn annoying and distracting at night. It's way too bright.
