So I ordered new buttons for my light bars because the spring on one of them broke. The first one I ordered started smoking when I plugged it in so I returned it and bought the original plug again because it has identical wiring and plugged it in to the wiring harness I had installed. It works good, it half lights up when my low beams are on and fully when turned on but it gets really hot and I have to turn it off. I swapped the plugs and it’s not that because the other one heated up on the one harness.
Does anyone have any tips or ideas before I pull off my instrument cluster and grill/bumper and redo all the wiring. If there’s a short shouldn’t it be obvious??8505D7B1-C3C9-4D0A-B83D-02EB87589A42.jpg FF2D09BD-FD24-4A4A-9746-E4AC84D4A5C0.jpg

You are using relays and not trying to run all the power through the switches correct?

They’re wired through the fuse box I believe one might be without a relay, if not they’re both relayed.

I mean most of those switches are rated for 3 amps max, anything more than that and you have to use a relay and have the switch triggering the relay.

Yeah I’m like 75% sure they’re both related I’ll check in the morning. It’s just weird I didn’t have this problem 2 years ago when I first wired it

Or you didn’t notice they were hot maybe. Fyi be 100% sure before you burn your truck down.

Honestly thats possible. The hot one wasn’t connected to a relay so I went to my local shop and ordered one, hopefully that fixes the issue.
