Took the camper up to Illinois for Thanksgiving, round trip was about 1,800 miles. Snowed on us one night and it was below freezing multiple nights. Forgot how good the Bigfoot is in below freezing temps.

RPOD 171. I'm pulling it with my F150 in this pic, but have pulled it with the Tacoma and it handles it just fine. My 07 Tacoma has 243,000 miles on it and while it would probably be OK, I generally only drive the old truck within about a 100 mile radius from home. The Ford has about 1/2 those miles.

My wife, granddaughter and I pulled this from GA up the East coast to Maine and back this summer. This photo was taken at Virginia Beach.

How is the build quality? I've heard some people that thought it could be better. I was thinking of getting that same model.

Ours has been good so far. I thoroughly inspected it top to bottom before delivery. Found a couple of minor issues that slipped by the final inspection. Outdoor water spigot was leaking, d/c plug needed to be replaced. I have read that several people have experienced some issues with the side door (it is definitely a weak point) and have had flooring problems that seem to come from a gap in the seal around the rear ramp door. I’ve not seen any gaps yet. No dust or light leaks through the back. I will keep an eye on it though. I will be going to a dual battery and solar on the roof to run fridge and/or charge battery/batteries-or I might just upgrade or swap out the Dometic fridge as it seems to draw a lot of power. Hasn’t been too much of an issue on short trips but on longer ones I find I have to run the generator for a few hours a day in order to recharge the batteries. But if we want A/C we have to do that anyway when we are off grid or in a non powered spot. I would have personally chosen the Pursue or a Hybrid teardrop if it was just me. I don’t intend to do much 4 wheeling with it. My wife wanted to be able to stand up and likes the convenience that state and national parks provide.

I’m in my 60s now and being able to stand up. There are some teardrops that are tall enough too. We shall see which route I end up taking. I don’t really NEED an off-road capable trailer, I use it as a base for when we do hit the trails.

Good luck! I really love the design. It’s a lot of trailer for just under 3000lbs. And serves well as a base camp. If it’s just me the tip out bed is just right. When it’s both of us it’s easy to convert to a comfortable king. I have a Gecko cover for the canvas that works as a good insulator. The chem toilet enclosure I built makes nighttime runs very convenient. Ours is the newer model with 8 gal fresh water and a propane heater. We looked at several but kept going back to this one as our first choice.

A friend of mine sells these, maybe he can cut me a deal!
I see he has a ‘23 in stock for $21k. Not sure if that’s good or not. Must check it out.

I ended up getting a T@b 320 S Boondock from him instead. He gave me a great deal on that one. I can't wait to pick it up!

Which brake controller and weight distribution hitch do you all recommend for a DCSB 4.0 4x4 Tacoma pulling a 3200lb empty camper?

I have a tekonsha P3 controller with the toyota/lexus harness. once I was able to locate the hard to locate plug under the dash its worked great. only issue I have so far is figuring out where to mount it out of the way. I have been playing with a few different spots but none have been perfect so far.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007O5GXOG?ie=UTF8

I know a lot of people like the redarc controllers as well with the dial adjustment mounted on the dash somewhere.
I like the tekonsha cause it has a manual override that I can lay on if needed.

I Highly recommend the Redarc Brake Controller. I have one for my trailer that weighs 3770 loaded and have had no issues, works great. The electronics box fits under the dash so all I have is a round knob to adjust the brakes mounted in a switch hole on the dash

That is the controller the camper dealer suggested for my new trailer. He says they are bulletproof. He demonstrated by showing the one he uses in his truck, lol

??? The Redarc also has a manual override. Isn't that basically a requirement of a trailer brake controller?
