I've seen those, and they're intelligently written in a manner that will protect the dealer even in the worst case scenario.

One I looked very closely at (competitive dealer 40mins from us) involved the customer to be - the only owner, as in non-nontransferable, all maintenance and work done at said dealer, heck even a bi-annual inspection (with said visits documented) to "maintain" the supposed warranty, and more.

I mean, tons of research goes into this stuff (especially when talking about service contracts that are purchased), many people trade in their vehicles before they ride out the full life of their extended service contract thus limiting payouts.

It's the same scenario with the dealer-offered warranty, because it's a lot of responsibility on the customer end to maintain it, and that's even if he or she keeps the vehicle for that long of a time.

The very few payouts for those warranties are just pennies compared to the amount they made in all their vehicle sales as well as their parts and labor charges.

They have their own lawyers that write this stuff up, and if you really want a dog in this fight, I highly suggest you read over all your paperwork, and gather any and all required documentation before presenting it to a lawyer. Even then, I bet it won't be worth dealing with.

I agree with you even if the OP was able to lawyer up .

Not having any clue what the so called warranty claim might be.

So you have the vehicle sit in limbo while the lawyers drag things out for months or years slowly getting worse every month.

Watched this play out with a friend a few years back it ended up costing far more to repair the vehicle then it was worth end result the vehicle was scraped .
