Definitely not that warm here... around 40.

But, while my roots are Scandinavian, I HATE the cold. I have zero use for anything below 60f.

THIS is my idea of winter....

Will move back at some point... just, not sure when.

Apparently, my Victory SW 22 doesn’t like the cold either. I had several failures to feed. When I shot it at the indoor range I had zero failures. Same ammo.
    Time will tell.

    Quick thing to check....
Before you shoot, while setting up, place the mag, in a pocket close to you skin, and keep it warm. Shoots fine, good. Let it cool to ambient. FTF, strip the mag, clean with solvent, and lube with something super light. If you think it is in the action, try a different lube if shooting in the cold. Just a thought.

Also fired my 9mm S&W Shield, while at the range. As always, it ran like the champ it is. I’ve had a Shield for years. Very dependable.

Currently running the Performance Center model. Very nice trigger. The ported barrel helps tame recoil. Very nice night sights. If I could only have one gun, it would be this one.

I currently have a Shield 2.0 in .40cal. Had this one 4 years I think?
Totally stock. Much better than the original I had before.
Shoots pretty much how you'd expect a .40 in that size to shoot. But, has always been reliable.

I'd have a tough time picking 1 pistol... but, depending pn circumstances,it would probably be one of my Sigs. Just love the way they run.

Just had the “one gun” conversation with a friend. His choice would be his Glock 43, for the same reasons my choice is my Shield: Dependable, accurate and concealable.

Oh if only one gun. I’d probably have to go with a short AR. Dependable, accurate, somewhat concealable, and an opportunity for much more ammo.

So, if concealed carry is the metric, I'd lean on my 365xl. Shed use(and currently does) the 43x.
Though I will say, all of my pistols, have proven dead nuts reliable, and accurate, though, my metric is "practical accuracy" with whatever I feed it... not worried about shooting bullseye at 50yd with a CC pistol.

I'm guessing you mean something like a Sig Rattler/MCX? I wouldn't mine one for in the house...

If I was to choose on concealed carry ease only, it would be my S&W 340 PD.

That would work. More like an 11.5” AR for me even better. Compact yet enough energy to hunt with if need be. Would it be optimal for carry or hunting ? No but capable and easy to keep in house for defense. Just my thinking means nothing

That's fair. Never shot a rifle smaller than an m4, so I have no reference.

M14, m16, m240g, m134, mk19, M2, mk38, etc.. M4 was not in wide service for us yet(at least as far as I know), so, just shot it a few times. Not sure of its distribution now. Been out a long while.

A long while lol I’ve been out since ‘88. Had to carry an A1 with a m203. Handy but heavyish

Range session at my club’s heated indoor range. SW22 Victory performed flawlessly. The range is a 50’ pistol range. IMG_3285.jpg
My phone camera makes the 50’ look even further away. IMG_3288.jpg

    @SilverBulletII excellent!
Not sure if it matters, being a target pistol, but, curious as to what lube is thickening up enough to create issues in low ambient temps.

    Either way, glad to hear.

Exactly, it’s strictly a target pistol. I’m confident I’ll be able to work around its quirks.

My Ruger SP 101 .22 revolver has zero quirks, other than a heavy trigger pull. The plus side of the heavy trigger is that it is pulling against a strong spring, which when released, delivers a powerful hammer strike, which helps reduce misfires. Great shooter. IMG_1811.jpg
