I have a 2009 Tacoma 4 door 4x4. it has 210000 miles. sometimes when in Drive, while my rpm's are low. the truck will "shimmy and shake". I put the truck in manual fourth gear it never happens! I've looked at every joint, and every bolt supporting those joints and have found nothing loose. Was considering a tranny flush thinking it might be the problem, but these tranny's are supposed to be pretty durable. Hoping someone has had some experience with this issue

This sounds like torque converter shudder. I would do a drain and fill (NOT a flush - approx 3qts) and add some lubeguard in there. Drive around for a couple weeks, and do it again.

If it goes away in “4” it’s the convertor. Lubeguard might fix it for a while but it will come back.

I treat it as maintenance at this point, because you're right, it does come back. I figure I do it once a year and I'm good.

Same here, I’ve gotten used to shifting from 4 to D at 60-65 when it comes back.

Could be torque converter; could also be a VVT malfunction. Any pending codes stored?
