What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

It depends on your driving style and commute. I started out with medium spicy and noticed the medium had too much jumpiness when just tooling along in traffic. So I dropped down to Mild/medium and that helped. Now I can mosey along in traffic and open it up on the freeway. Just my flavor. I drive fast and the mild is plenty for highway acceleration. If I’m feeling frisky on a back road wanting to act like a rally car I put it in medium and its got plenty of pep. That spicy is nice but I only used it a couple times. That said, I have 265/70R/17’s and it’s same as stock. The tuner should
give you options to meet back up if you want to change your tune for free. Mine (Paul PNWtacoma) was very helpful and let me meet back up for a retune.

Thanks for info, I talked to tuner and he recommended light/mild or mild/medium. I will probably start with mild/medium and see what I think with the 285s

 

I know there is one in the main fuse box I installed one on my buddies last year just don’t remember which one we did and he sold the truck lol

 

If you drive in snow you might appreciate “mild” to minimize wheel spin. For the ECT setting choose whatever. I personally prefer smoother throttle tip in. And I most appreciate the modified shift points.

Looks awesome. First time I have seen those wheels on a blacked out tacoma. I put the same on mine. I like being able to see my wheels and yours are the first I have seen in a long time. Surprised they dont show up more often.

Good point! I’m in central Ohio, so we do sometimes see snow. Not nearly as much as when I was a kid but still can have a bad storm occasionally.

 

Speaking of tunes, thinking of making the 5-6 hour drive to get mine tuned next month or two. Is KDMax worse than OTT, or just different? I was thinking of going with OTT, currently got in contact with an OTT tuner. With this 2.7L Auto I heard it does wonders, especially with these 31's.

Through all my looking around it seems like it is just different. Everything I found seemed to say OTT is the way to go for overall driving experience and shift logic but I can’t speak from experience until I go tomorrow. I’ll report back after my 2 hour drive home.

I went with medium/spicy. I've been driving it for about a year now and I'd probably go mild/spicy or mild/medium if I were to do it again. I love the improved throttle response but sometimes the torque is a little much when starting from a stop. Not a big deal to lunge forward from time to time but when it's slick out from the snow/ice we get here, it's a little much. I know that's mostly on me but after a year I thought I'd be able to adjust and drive with more consistency.

 

I have the same color truck and was looking at these same wheels. Thanks for posting the pic. Do you know if the center caps come in red lettering? Also, did you have to adjust the computer for the different tire/wheel size?

 

I liked a lot of what they have to offer, but they don't offer off-line navigation, and after checking into it, it seems like its a bit less reliable than GMs. I like their voice prompts feature better than GMs, but that's about it.

 

Ended up getting a cheap welder on a sale at HF, naturally my first welding project was something for the taco. Tried my hand at a set of bed stiffeners, definitely not as pretty as the Total Chaos ones, but I'm sure they're quite strong and should work great for me!

 

I am now afraid for your Tacoma ...

Don’t mind the blue wires. Still haven’t figured out where to add the wires for the backlight on the ditch lights. Also not sure if these will be bright enough for ditch lights. But install came out clean
