Hello beautiful community, so I have the 2007 Tacoma 5 lug 2.7L engine . And I upgraded to bigger Aggressive tires 265/75/16s . Absolutely I lost lots of mpg ⛽️ , and I noticed lack of power to accelerate. Does this affect anything else like engine and transmission ? Thanks you so much. I don’t mind lack of power and lost of mpg , but I’m concerned about other effects it has.

It absolutely affects everything. Trans and engine have to work a little harder than they did with the stock size. It makes your gear ratio higher. If you want peace of mind and longevity, keep the stock size.

That being said, I have the same size on my truck and have very slight loss of power/mpg. There's no way around that if you want to run bigger tires. Am I concerned about the engine working harder and wear and tear? No. I have run a lift and bigger tires for the last 60k miles. I have almost 200k on my truck now.

However, I have a 4x4. 4.10 gearing, so the difference is minor. A 2WD 5 lug has a much higher gear ratio, like 3.73 or something like that, so it will be a lot more noticeable, and your truck will probably be working harder than mine. You could look into getting it regeared.

    probably not.

power and MPG went down because it’s 4cyl on 3.73.
