Accessing Factory Service Manual (FSM) html/PDF files with phone

    The digital version of the FSM I have is a basically a couple of HTML files which link to about 1500 PDFs which are the various sections of the manuals. The PDFs names are just numbers so you can't browse them to find the section you want.

    Works great on the computer but I couldn't get it to work on my Android phone. Android web browsers won't allow access to local files. Searched this site and others for any ideas but never found anything.

    But I found a way which may be useful to someone out there. Using an app called Simple HTTP Server you can designated a folder as a HTTP server and allow local access. You simply set "Root folder" to whatever folder contains your FSM (mine is an on a microSD card) and then you copy one of the "IP" addresses the app provides into your browser's address bar and it works. Links open with whatever PDF app you have as a default.
