Subwoofer Wiring Help - OEMAUDIOPLUS

Hi All,

I am no audiophile, so I bought the reference 500 from oem audio plus years ago for my 2017 PRO. For my purposes, it was great.

I just got rid of my pro because of growing family, but I kept the speakers and sub. I put the speakers in another car, but I want to add the sub as well.

I have a 300W mono amp and want to hook it up to my aftermarket deck with RCA.

Can you someone tell me what these wires mean? I was just thinking I need the positive and negative, but totally unsure.

You can see the search I used at top. I didn't get too deep in the results - you can do that - but I think there is a complete instruction manual in .pdf. If this four runner reference is to be trusted it looks like the yellow is your power, the red is the subwoofer lead, the black is ground, and the blue is the radio.

Thanks! But for my purpose of wanting to plug into a mono amp just for the sub. Would I combine the yellow wires and black wires, just plug into amp?

Or am I just too simple?

oemplus isn't going to publish what/where those wires go.

best option here is to physically take the sub out, and follow the wiring off the sub.

alternately, if there's additional circuitry and/or components between the plug and the sub, it can also be easier to add a new wire straight off the sub out of the box.

 

I tested the polarity on each side and it pops woofer out. But when I take a positive from one side and negative on the other it does nothing. Going to assume I can just use one side. Will update if anyone cares…

i tried to take it out, but seems pretty stuck together! Didn’t want to pry too much.

 

One plug is probably a input and the other is an output for the second speaker is my guess .

 

You could always call their tech support line and tell them what you are trying to do and see if the tech will work with you. "Hey I love your product but my use case has changed and I am trying to do _________ I see two connectors out. How would I go about doing ___________."

 

So it seems each side is independent, so in and out ?
I think I can just put one side into the amp black and red does the same as blue and yellow (negative positive).

there are only reactions when you touch the battery on each side. Crossing does nothing

 

take the sub out and physically follow the wiring inside the box. you might learn some of it is redundant.

 

it’s definitely a DVC sub, and my guess is it’s a 2ohm DVC woofer, giving a 4ohm load to the amp getting 500w. Then the dual sub option plugs right in and drops it to a 2ohm load at the amp and getting 1000w, allowing them to use the same amplifier for both the single and dual sub options.

it may also be a 4ohm DVC and can do a 2ohm load for the single sub and a 1ohm load for the dual sub. A lot of amps are becoming 1ohm stable so this wouldn’t surprise me
