Clip the plug/wire from your old set of tweets and use that as a plug and play harness. That's what I did on mine. But I'll say this, the old JBL so called tweeters play a pretty wide range. You're better off with a midrange vs a tweeter.

Thanks man… didn’t think about that. That’s a great idea. Only thing is the ohm difference with less volume. I’ll probably just keep it stock. Was willing to pay a few hundred bucks for a better sound system… don't think the couple of thousand it will take is worth it to me.

You don't have to spend thousands on a wideband. I'm saying a tweeter is meant to play higher frequency of the likes of 3-5khz and up whereas a wideband speaker plays 500hz and up. And a wideband is what's up there in the dash. There's options from CDT and Stereo Integriry that sound great that's under 200. Although they are 4ohm they'll sound better than the factory JBL. Even a full range 2way 3.5 speaker from infinity sounds better that's even cheaper at $50.

I'm providing these recommendations because I've been down this route with the factory JBL speakers.

Thanks man… appreciate your feedback. I’ll look into your recommendations.

Can you tell me what you went with?

First round was going with replacement dash speakers since I wasn't getting the clarity/depth. I ran the 3.5 Infinity Reference full range 2 way for about a year.

After hearing a buddy's system in an entirely different car I decided to gut the JBL entirely.

    Current setup:
    - Joying Android 12 headunit for the wireless Android auto
    - MiniDSP C-DSP 8x12 to manage the audio outputs
    - Focal Flax 6.5 mids in the doors and tweeters in the dash, these are actively managed by the DSP
    - Infinity 6.5 coaxials in the rear doors for rear fill
    - JL Audio 10tw3 subwoofer in a Mr Marv birch enclosure
    - Alpine PDX-V9 5 channel amp that's currently driving the front stage and sub
    - Alpine PDX-F4 4 channel amp that I'm only using 2 channels at the moment for the rear fill, this will eventually drive the 3.0 Focal flax midrange speakers for the front stage.

At retail all of this stuff looks expensive but I've managed to buy most of this 2nd hand and it sounds amazing.

Sound is subjective. What sounds good to me, might not be for you. If you're not wanting to deal with the expense, I'd say for the price of the Infinity 3.5 speaker for the dash is a decent gamble for 50 bucks. If anything, purchase from Amazon use that return policy.

    Good luck with everything.

Thanks man… sounds like a great sound setup you got there. No pun intended.

Just to be sure… this the one you’re talking about?

Then I would cut off the existing connector on my factory JBL speaker to use as the connector for this new one?

Yes, that's the one. Keep in mind you may have to trim a little bit to get them to sit flat, but they work.

I gutted mine also and did a 4 channel audio control amp, sub amp , 10 inch sub behind rear passenger seat . Separates up front Coax in rear , pioneer radio. I bought it a little at a time . But I will say it was so worth it . It really sounds super nice and just changes the whole dynamic of the truck. Buy once , cry once .
