Wondering if anybody else has had a similar issue?

The paint is developing what looks like a rash - tons of very tiny blisters. I first noticed about a 1x4” area when I was fueling up in early fall. It has since spread to most areas of the fiberglass. Really hard to photograph, but here’s what it looks like. (Most visible in lower right corner)

Any ideas what would cause that?

someone else had a leer bubbling up and returned it for fixing. if I recall, thry were saying it was moisture during the painting or something

but i think they saw it a few weeks after delivery

    Hey, thank you!

I didn't catch the exact reason, but apparently it impacted a single factory for a brief period of time. Maybe a bad batch of something that wasn't formulated properly and is off-gassing weird?

The good news, my local dealer has been awesome (Kurt's Caps in Wayne, MI) and it's heading back to Leer for a repaint or replacement. Kinda sucks to be without it for a month or so, but stuff happens and I'm happy everyone's stepping up to fix it.

My cap is now back, so just a quick update in case anyone else experiences the same issue...

    * This was a known issue to Leer, so wasn't difficult for the dealer to get them to agree to fix it, even 1.5 years later.
    * The whole process took about 5 weeks. I was without a cap for about 4, which was not a big deal for me.
    * The (re) paint job looks as good as the original. Leer definitely didn't half-ass it.
    * I had done a few post-purchase modifications/add-ons. I removed MOST of them before dropping the cap off, but got lazy and left 2 in place. One of those I got back, one I did not. Definitely not faulting Leer for this.
    * If you're in SE Michigan/Metro Detroit area and looking for a cap, Kurt's Caps in Wayne, MI has been excellent. Highly recommended.
