I've been itching to do a longer trip and get outside of VA. I'm inviting anyone in the area (anyone with a different make/model is welcome if you know them). Truth be told I'm aiming for Utah but I have to start somewhere! Here's a rough plan to explore the DBBB/KAT. Thinking we'll explore Hurricane Creek outside of Ashville and camp on the way there and then explore New River Gorge on the way back. Now to lock in a date!

We are now heading out on 4/7 and returning 4/13

Looks like it would have been a killer trip. How did it turn out?

It was pretty terrible. I started out with 20+ people and over the few months I was posting around I ended up with 1. I spent a lot of the trip helping him with blown tires and other things. It started off alright but on day 3 the sky opened and never stopped over the rest of the week. We didn't get to explore much of the DBBB at all and tried heading to WV early and that was even worse. Lots of stories and lessons learned. There is a paid DBBB group ride in September. I'd rather not pay to go into the forest for a few days but I'm planning on doing this one. I can make it there in 1 day solo and then have a group of like minded people to explore with and when I'm ready to leave, head back in a day whenever I want. I've been on a lot of trips and have more planned but one thing is for sure. I'm cursed and it will always rain. I'm upgrading my awning and will be looking at the extrusion overland camper at expo this fall. If it sheds water right I'm probably going to sell the RSI and upgrade. Have a low profile instant living space would be a game changer when I head out west.
