    Thanks @christian06 !

Got the part, painted it up, and probably will install this week sometime.

Now I see it. Guess I don’t really need that since our neck of the woods is low crime rate. Besides I’m guessing without the tailgate my MPG would probably improve.

I have a halogen-bulb one that is at least a decade old. Should get an LED bulb upgrade (I need to order than from Home Depot) but it will beat the crap out of someone who needs it, and it makes a good hammer if that kind of tool is needed (I see a crossover use there? :D).

That's what we used on the job back in the late 80's and early 90's, they made a distinct sound.

I remember Mag Lites in Law Enforcement. If you struck a person with one of them, they defiantly had a bad day. They would definitely break a shoulder blade.

Yes ... just use LED bulbs instead of halogen bulbs these days.

Yes it is! Extra tailgate theft deterrent security. I figure its worth the investment compared to sourcing a new tailgate, if the unfortunate were to happen.

Oh. Thanks for sharing this. We’re fortunate enough to be in a low crime area so just locking it is good enough. But I agree that it’s definitely cheap insurance.
