Toyota sold 8,203 Tacomas for the month of January, those are the worst monthly sales figures on the 3G. 4th gen might get the numbers back up, who knows?

I’d venture to say because people didn’t want the 3rd gen they are/were waiting on 4th gen

Surprisingly good numbers considering production ended in November lol, in fact higher than the post-recession years 2009, 2010, and 2011: https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/toyota-tacoma-sales-figures/

Production ceased months ago, so these are more than likely what’s left on the lots… I spoke to a dealer that said the orders for the 4th Gens. are through the roof… I don’t even see the Trailhunter or Pro on the Toyota website anymore.. think they’re holding off on special orders for now.

    Good points.

Only a few hundred Gen 3's left north of 49. Part of the problem may also the airbag recall. Dealers are having a hard time getting the parts to clear the remaining '23s for sale. Took 6 months to get the part for my son's just purchased '23. Sat in the showroom since June, just cleared for sale last week.

February 2024 sales numbers are out. 5045 which is no surprise with many Tacomas sitting at the port.

Hello, I am a new member and thought this would be a good first post: I am proud to be one of the 8,203 who bought in Jan. 2024.

I bought a Sport 4x4 DCLB. This is my 3rd Taco, my first was a 2000 Pre-Runner standard cab that I bought brand new. That was the first vehicle I ever bought and kept it until 2022. My other truck is my Dad's '06 that I still have. It is a Access Cab. Now I have the '23.

typically, jan/feb is pretty slow a sales time, especially coupled with the new model release, old model lot residents they're trying to dispose of, and everyone getting their holiday credit card bills, and with tax season looming.

given the new model release, i would wait until the results from the end of the 2nd quarter before drawing too many conclusions.

but there's also a lot of people that are going to be interested, but know to never buy the first model year, especially a ground-up re-design like the 4th gen. so we might not even see sales come back to 3rd gen levels until into 2nd or 3rd production years.

Those numbers are a bit distorted...
Its a supply issue... I bet most of the '23 tacos left are tbe least desirable trims (like the sport*) in white.

Theres also the airbag issue. AND also model year change and the shift to 4th gen.

The '24s were supposed to be at the dealer a while back... creating a big supply gap.

It seems thete is good intetest on the 24s

    * sorry, could not help it...

A lot of guys (including me) won't ever buy a 4th gen, because it's a just a better looking tundra. It no longer has that Tacoma look to it anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck, but it's not a taco anymore. Bring back the classic Taco look, Toyota! Please!!!!

Yep same thing happened to the Tundra, bit of a slow roll out. End of this year will give us a better idea. Betting it still will be low since the economy is taking a dip, and high interest rates will keep a lot of people from buying.

Think the initial grumblings of the 4G will go away once people test drive it. The added cost of the improvements will be justified.
