I'm against add ons too but nobody is forcing anyone to do anything, spend your money elsewhere.
There's not a person here that wouldn't sell a $20k truck for $25k if they could do it.

    agreed on the 20k.

but add on's should be optional when buying new. you want side steps... great.. add them on but don't force them on me, and don't force me into a 4k "protection" package. also, this is why i drive an 18 year old truck

I agree. Mine had Port Add-Ons. One of them was the side steps. I don't really want them, but realistically I'm not sure if my wife could get in without them. I may change them out for rock sliders later when there's more choices, but at least for now I have something. There were others that I would probably do anyway, but with aftermarket items cheaper (bed mat, mud guards) but that isn't bad. I may have saved a few hundred in the end, but it was worth not waiting for the truck. At least they don't charge ADM. I think there was around $900 in port options.

Contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of people that would prefer to have no bullshit model of selling lots of things at a reasonable price and NOT trying to gouge every customer that walks in the door. Word-of-mouth tends to get out and you get new customers from other areas and repeat customers.

$900 isn’t bad. I have seen as high as $9000 in port and dealer additions here. Then they will look at you with a straight face and say they are selling at SRP with no market adjustment.

PIO are different than dealer adds IMO. I know everyone here seems to feel that PIO are a a rip off, but $149 for bed lights installed isn't that terrible if you're paying someone to do it. $499 for window tint, $999 running boards from the dealer are a different story, I agree with you on that.
Also it's on the damn window sticker, Toyota put it there (or to be technical maybe the distributor). You aren't paying over MSRP if it has $600 in PIO.

You say that, but then you have Southeast Toyota essentially creating their own bullshit trim levels, and putting TRD grilles, predator steps, and TRD wheels on everything at a huge markup.

This is why people hate dealerships. No, I don't want your $300 dashboard cream.

Maybe not. Gulf States stole their playbook. Port installed options to the tune of $5000 is now common.

Hellz no, they were MSRP. Found a dealer in Illinois for $2,970 off MSRP.

Bob Howard had a TRD Pro 4Runner that had a TSRP of over $60,000. I was like, say what? They had it discounted to $55,000 but still wasn't worth it.

I suspect if you recorded 95% of the sales - buyer interactions for the 2024 Tacoma, you would get the same series of events including the buyer accusing the dealership of being bald faced lairs while at the same time still asking their wife to pull out the check book.

If the long hard road to get yourself a brand new vehicle is like a video game, the dealer is the final boss.

The sales manager is the first stage, the finance guy is the second and final stage of the boss.
