    Hey All,

A little background info, bought my 2011 Tacoma a few years ago. The previous owner had at some point, installed a Baja Kits Pre Runner Long Travel Lift kit 3 or 4 inches ( Not positive), stage 3 Deaver leaf springs, King off road racing shocks 2.5in w/ reservoir front and rear, front coil overs and leaf springs are 700 lb rated I believe. I have been having issues with this setup every since I got the truck. SUPER rough ride, corroding ball joints ( live in north east), and constant problems with my CV boots tearing.

So far I've replaced the upper and lower control arms with something that has normal oem style ball joints. At this point I've replaced my CV axels 4 times over the time I've owned the vehicle because of ripped boots. One just ripped again today after replacing them less than two months ago FML.

At this point im fed up and I want to do away with King Shocks, lift, and leaf springs return it to either stock ride height or maybe an inch lift (need to be able to fit 265/70R17 tires).

What type of setup would you guys recommend that wont break the bank. I drive 80% highway so I don't really need something crazy for off roading. Mostly looking to lessen the axle angles and soften the ride. I imagine I will need front coil overs, rear socks and leaf springs.

So you are going to need a whole new front suspension setup. UCA LCA coilovers the whole deal. If you need a hand there are a bunch of good guys up here that can give you a hand.'

The northeast has some special requirements for parts

Seeing the front is built so much I would be surprised if the rear was a stock geometry shock.

I already have some Freedom off road uca and lca installed that I would keep. They are OEM dimensions. I really just need new font coil overs and rear shocks and leaf springs. IK there are some shock/ leaf spring kits out there.

A picture of the front suspension and rear would probably help.

It seems like the go to budget setup is 6112 front 5160 rear icon rxt leafs

    for ride quality and downtravel
-not being maxed out on lift
-making sure the shocks are tuned for the vehicle
    -shock rebuild as needed

    CV’s:
    -boot slide mod
-red high angle outer CV boots if compatible
-not being maxed out on lift

Do you know if the 5160s need to be maintained since they have that reservoir like checking the nitrogen pressure etc. Ik the kings I have people say to check the nitrogen pressure every 3 months and even rebuilding the shocks after 30k or so miles. The less maintenance the better.

I don’t know if 6112/5160 is rebuildable or sealed shut inaccessible. Supposedly they have a good warranty from Bilstein and don’t require that kind of frequent servicing, being one of the selling points.

They do not. They are rebuildable but only rebuildable by bilstein I think.

they are pretty maintenance free for 100k

for the rear it looks like your in luck. No relocation so the 5160s will work

    Hey all,

Thanks for all of your suggestions and feed back. I ended up getting a full set of Bilstein off of a 2022 TRD OF with 17 k miles, dealership take off. Also got a leaf spring set and was able to get my 3 month old cv axle warrantied. I must say Extreme Terrains is good with replacing stuff with little questions asked.
