Damn! Back in my youth, auto parts stores would advertise spark plugs on sale for $1.00 each.

Yes. I remember buying an 8 pack of Champion plugs for about $10. I also remember them not working right and getting the Motorcraft ASF-42C as printed on the tune up sticker. This pack was about $20 and I felt bad paying it. But it did make the engine run right.

Which of the three ground straps do you check the gap against?

I purchase parts online through the Toyota parts website from a local dealer who has the option to pick them up at the dealership. (no shipping charge) The Toyota parts warehouse is only about 15 miles from here, so if I order first thing in the morning they are usually ready for pick-up the next day. The last time I purchased spark plugs (OEM Denso) they were right around $5.50 each. Also, prices are not standard across all dealerships.

^There are 3 ground electrodes instead of 1 like most other common plugs. Which one do you measure?

I got this socket that was recommended in one of the write ups on changing plugs. The extension is part of the socket so it stays together when you pull the plug out. Definitely made the job easier.
