What is this red, circular cap? I slid into a tree and it looks like this part is now broken. I hit a tree on the battery side. Started ok and everything worked fine for a couple weeks. Now my battery light and ABS lights are on and my radio is glitchy. Also, is this battery still ok? Slight bit of liquid visible on case, but no major cracks? Thanks in advsnce

    Reserected from the dead.
I'm pretty sure you cracked the battery. I'm betting you shorted out a cell.

A quick stop by AutoZone and have them test it. I bet they say it's only at 10 volts.

I don't recognize that cap. I'll have to look at one of my 1 St gens.

The red thing wrapped in foam is the beeper for the alarm. Mine happens to be green I believe but also wrapped in foam and in the same location.

Thank you, that is exactly what it is. Glad it's nothing vital...
