    Hey everyone,

in the midst of the OEM fog light mod for my SR. I’ve got my new stalk in and functional, along with my wiring harness and relay not yet installed, I’ve just been trying to find some lights to run. I planned on buying some OEM halogen takeoffs, but have been having trouble sourcing them.

For some reason, I’ve got a mental block with using LED fogs with my stock halogen projector headlights, but LED is the most readily available. I should probably go with them for the low-maintenance factor and better performance, but worried about the difference in projection vs my stock headlights. If I were to go with LED’s, I’d probably go with Toyota OEM, even though I’d like amber color since they usually perform better in fog, and because I like the look more.

I have no plans of upgrading my headlights to LED anytime soon; just a bit too rich for me while I’m still making payments on the truck and saving up for a camper shell.

Is anyone currently running LED fogs with the halogen projectors headlights?

I have halogen headlights and Diode Dynamics SS3 fogs in amber. Love them, one of my favorite mods ever.

I also did the Phillips H9 bulbs for my low beams, perfect lighting setup with the Diode fogs.

Do you feel that the H9’s blind drivers at night since they’re basically high beam bulbs? And what did you upgrade your high beams to? Any issues popping fuses?

The H9s are still aimed the same as the old H11's so they produce minimal if anymore glare over the H11's. I have H9s instead of H11s on my F150 and it's a great mod. The H9 bulbs are $10 at menards vs $30 for H11s!

I'd also suggest the Diode Dynamics SS3 Sports if you don't get any snow or the DD SS3 Pro or Max's if you get snow. Both are awesome in selective yellow!

As mentioned above, they're aimed properly so it doesn't blind others. I do a lot of backroad driving at night coming back from off road trips and have never been flashed before.

High beam bulbs are the stock ones. Never had any issues with fuses.

Anyone know if I can fit fogs on this Utility package bumper? Do the inserts pop out from the inside?

    I've got a set up like @Foster1
Running DD SS3 Max yellow fog with the H9 low beam mod. Consider the DD Elites for budget fogs.
H9 made a big improvement over the H11. One of my favorite and most useful cheap mods.
The SS3 Max are craze bright, but SAE compliant. I was considering the Elites, but my kid said get the good ones and I wanted ones that run hot enough to melt snow.

I often drive back roads with the lows and fogs on so I can see deer earlier and have never been flashed on the unlit winding roads.
Still have H9 for the high beam. The lenses are different between high and low so provided their aimed right you should be all set.

Crashnburn80 has some great lighting writeups that guided my decisions.

I have the SS3 Sports. They were in my budget at the time. They do get washed out in the snow but are great fog lights. I wanna upgrade to the pro. Don't know if I'll stick with the white like I have or go yellow

Well you can switch the lense to the yellow ones on your current lights but the light will look green as the pods are different. If you buy the Pros and get the yellow ones. If you then switch to white lens it'll still look white but a softer white.

I had the SS3 Sports on my WRX. They were great.

I gotcha. The reason I like the white/clear lense is because the fog lights blend into the bumper. Lol
What are the advantages of the selective yellow?

It should fit, and yeah they pop out from the inside. Just have to undo the fender liner and reach in there.

Not sure if you're pre-wired though.

Better visibility in adverse conditions like snow and are easier on your eyes/others eyes. Plus they just look cool

Do you know of any plug and play kits? I know on my WRX shown above, it was a base model. I got an entire kit with the switches, harness/adapter, and got to pick the fogs I wanted.

You should check this thread out. Just remove your steering column cover to see if you’re pre-wired, otherwise you’ll need to install the wiring or go with a kit that has a switch. I originally ordered an Amazon special all-in-one kit for $50 but decided to go whole-hog and do OEM-style since I had the pre-wire.

Buy the factory LED fogs and put an amber lamin-x film over them from Amazon.

Another vote for DD SS3’s. I have the Max version and they’re incredible
