2nd gens with the 4.0 having low down power don’t really need the regear on 35’s like the 3.5 motors that have all the power past 3k do

That's sweet. But you can't weld something that doesn't fit.

Ok. I'm out. Just sad several teens in the family aren't as smart as you.

    Enjoy.

I remember being 17 and thinking I knew everything. Took some hard lessons to figure out how wrong I was but hey it was fun along the way I guess.

Good luck kid, you're going to need it. Some day when you get this project all done, come back and share a photo of all the sweet off-roading you did to make all us uncool 40 year olds salty. All that matters is that you think your truck is cool even if we all think drop-bracket lifts are dumb. Probably for the best - could you imagine how lame a DB lift would be if us old guys thought it was cool?!

Go build your drippy donk and flaunt that boujie ride up and down the mean streets of Bartlett. Heard this year is Hot Girl Summer so get down with ya bad self. Yeet rizz guap sus. L8er fellow kids.

The equivalent cringe for boomers is the “overlanding bro” rotopack on bed rail look that ton of old people on this forum seem to like. “Trust me brah, i totally go so far away from modern society in the US that I need the extra gas!” Rotopack “over landing build in US” is cringe LARP.

Do you know if RC says you need 18's to clear the spindles?

I couldn't find it on the RC website. In general most 6" kits say go 18" wheels in order to clear the tie rods/knuckles. A few guys (myself included) fit 17's with no spacers just need the right specs. I have a 17x9 3.5Backspace/-38mm offset & it just barely clears.

Good place to start and see what look you are going for/how much trimming you want to do.

idk what’s funny, i drive a 2nd gen on 35’s with no regear and it has plenty of power.

Have you ever actually owned a 2nd gen with 35’s or larger?

do you need to regear if you put a 200lb camper on the bed?

or is it only when you put on an additional 170lbs of tires?

It’s says right on their website the minimum wheel size, width and offset required to run their kit.

Folks regear day one given the truck is 3.73 which is garbage ratio

    sedans have 4.10
so does Jeep Rubicon, 3rd gen TRD OR 4runner, and anything else that had some semblance of rational thought go into making it.

    Google is free

So your saying that every 2nd gen tacoma ever built needs a re-gear?

No I do not care what other people do with their truck. Put spinners on it.

Yes I am sure that my Tacoma that is on 35’s and isn’t regeared doesn’t feel underpowered. YMMV
