Ventilation Help, Please?

I have developed a unpleasant organic type odor coming from the ventilation system. Replaced filter in glove box, vacuumed out anything from the cowl grills, had my dog, who is a rodent hound, "seek" with zero hits in or under the truck.
Other than the cowl grills, where else should I look for a possible dead animal smell to be getting in?
This really stinks. TYIA

 

I have seen them get past the cabin filter and end up in the blower motor housing, ac evaporator, heater box and even in the duct work.

 

Confirm your condensate line is clear.

 

Check your wiper fluid container.
People have posted here that they found dead animals inside theirs.

once you check all of the above, try spraying some Lysol aerosol in the vents and leave the AC on without recirculation going.

 

Update: dead mouse found before cabin air filter. Removed two push pins to remove cowl trim. Found small nest and a dead mouse. How it got there is amazing to me. It was a great opportunity to totally clean and refinish the plastic cowl with McGuire's Ultimate black. Made a huge difference.
