100% Hot Wheels VW Drag Bus. 1/18 this one was opened so I took it out of the box for some better pictures.

I hope everyone had a great Super Bowl weekend. Though I spend my time assembling these kits.

    Here's Takumi's AE86 and Keisuke's FD3S
    20240211_222556.jpg

The kit even comes with cardboard scenery, if you feel like recreating the famous "kansei dorifto" scene
    20240211_221753.jpg

And they have two options for ride height. Though I prefer the stock height, as the lowered option is too low for my tastes.
    20240211_124557.jpg

These kits were rather fun to build. They require no glue or paint (though I ended using a drop of glue to fix a mistake).

But I do I have some gripes. While there's no painting required, in the case of the AE86, there are only stickers for the lower portion. They're simpler to apply than water slides, but not as forgiving. As a result, the passenger side looks a bit unfortunate. Though I'm my own harshest critic.
    20240211_223204.jpg

The wheels and axles are all plastic. That's fine, but the lack of brake disks are off putting. RS Wantanabes and Mazdaspeed MS-02s do a good job at hiding that fact.

Plus there are some inaccuracies. The 86 has an all-black interior, which it never had in the anime. That can be rectified with paint, but I'm not as capable as @RLMoody. And the FD comes with the Red Suns decals. Please excuse my inner Otaku, but the RX-7 never had these titles when it used MS-02s. It would have been more accurate to either use MS-01s or mould the body using the Mazdaspeed A-Spec II front bumper.
    20240211_223055.jpg

Finally, the underside is completely devoid of detail, barring the muffler and exhaust tip.But given the target demographic, these are just minor issues.

And here's a comparison between the 1/24 Aoshima pre-painted kit versus their 1/32 snap kit.

Good Monday everyone! Well I ended up stopping back at my local Diecast store today to find some mellowness after a long day at work. I still had some money on a gift card that my lady got me for my bday. While I was there someone came in and traded a bunch of their collection in. Luckily the homie that runs the shop gave me a sneak look into it before he priced everything out. Long story short I was able to score some rad ones that caught my eye. Much peace till next time! Hope everyone’s day was excellent.

Gordi Davis was a vw lover and collector. Very well known in the vw community. Passed away in 2013. Family gave theses away to friends and family.

Had to post this quick! The collection is growing. Been about a month and a half since I started. Gotta get a nice place to store them soon until we get into the new house where we will have a room dedicated to the collections!

Thankfully she is super supportive! She Collects VW bus’s, so between the 2 of us, we just support each other’s interests and hobbies. I’m very thankful. We’ve known each other since we were 5years old. Honestly she is my best friend. She’s the one who’s supported and helps buy so many of my Race Tacoma parts. The Sparco seats, Enkei wheels, new suspension and so much more I have her to thank for. I know, I’m blessed and super lucky. I don’t take any of it for granted. We no doubt are a team!

I get the 27 Gallon Totes from Home Depot for like $11 ... depending on how you stack them inside... I can fit about 450 in one.

Right on! Very nice, thank you. I’ve got to make a Home Depot run this week for work. I’ll scope them out when I’m there. 450 is a great amount to have the ability to store in a solid place.
