So, new member with an involved question. I have an 09 Tacoma (It is my 5th Toyota Tacoma (including two 22re's). My engine (2.7) has corroded a hole in the side and needs a replacement. The rest of the truck is in great shape (except where someone ran into the back bumper). What besides the block would I need to install to make swap with an 03 2.7 engine? Is it even worth doing? I just can't bring myself to pay$4G's for a used motor.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Are you sure the hole is in the actual block (uncommon) and not just a rotted core plug (very common)?

I agree with @RustyGreen above. I highly doubt that the engine has corroded a hole in the block.

Look at the core plugs (commonly called freeze plugs).
Post a picture of this hole. I'd love to see it.

You need to look for 2005+ block.
That is, if you need a block.
