I just installed a trailer brake controller and in testing I noticed the brake pedal is soft. What I mean is I push down the pedal until I feel some increased resistance and the brakes are applied to the wheels. If I put additional pressure on the pedal it goes quite a bit farther down. But not to the hard stop at end of mechanical travel. It feels like there is air in the system. The truck is brand new (well, about 5 weeks from purchase). Doesn't seem right. Is there normally some softness to the brake pedal? Haven't had any issues stopping and only noticed it when testing the controller. Haven't hooked up a trailer yet - just use a light bulb load at the trailer connector.

My dad's off road has totally different feeling on pedal than my SR5 does, so you might need to just get used to it. if not then, you might have to bleed the brakes. I had same thing on my old 4runner and bleeding changed the interval of brake. If I was you I would take it to Toyota and ask to adjust the brakes.
