The coolant reservoir should have a F (full) and L (low) indicator. Should be at full

Possibly. The purpose of the reservoir is to siphon coolant into the system to ensure proper Coolant level is maintain to be pressurized. If the coolant level in the system is low and can not draw more Coolant in, yes, it will overheat.

But I don't know your driving habit, truck, and condition. You may have other factors that is causing your issue. Crack head, blown head gasket, leaking cooling system, radiator cap not holding pressure. I wouldn't know

Stainless steel brake lines, Custom leather wrapped steering wheel, Haltech stand-alone ECU,
You have to burp the radiator system to get all the air out. The heater lines are higher than the radiator cap so topping off the radiator is not sufficient and the heater has to be open in the on position or hot position. If you don’t burp the system you will have air trapped in the system and it will overheat and warp the aluminum head and cause a head gasket issues if you run it hot. Where that temperature gauge is at is a very dangerous place to cause a head gasket issue, FYI

there should be a fill line marker about half way up on the side on the plastic tank on the thin side of the tank if you look, might be hard to see

so i just filled the sucker in a rush this am to work might have overfilled…..

However, still heat issues, will burp it in the parking lot and check oil.

So turn the car on cap off, heat on high, let it run and flow the air out the system.
For how long, whats the indicator?

Check the oil once it comes up to heat.

When you burp it, try and park with the front of the trucker higher than the rear (like on a small hill, or jack up the front). That will encourage the trapped air to move out of the system.

I would just do it wherever you are. Don't want to see those temps again. Lack of burping I don't think should cause that much of an issue though... It's mainly so you can fill the rad up completely. Perhaps thermostat is installed wrong?

For what it’s worth, I sprayed the front of my rad down with a spray bottle cleanser then I turned on the garden hose and flushed from the backside out of the radiator and stood there for 12 minutes watching a river of filth run down the driveway. I feel better about that.
