Same for me here on 285/75/17. Got caster to 6* and since then, all been good for me. I really dig that that size. Works great for me.

They ran really well stock. I bet that thing was a screamer with cams, headers and a tune!

It was for being a truck I miss it but after 275k the transmission started slipping the cost of a rebuild was more than it was worth so had to let it go. It was a good 7 year run.

Thanks! I have the Bilstein 5100’s and OME 888 coils with Freedom Offroad UCA’s up front. Heavy duty Dakars and extended length 5100’s(I think) in the rear. I’ve been happy with it so far. I have a little over 6,000 miles on the set up.

Anyone have 285/75/17 after running 285/70/17s or vice versa and have noticeable MPG differences? I know that's not the most important thing with these trucks, but just curious

I'm looking at going from 33s to 34s and more concerned about power loss and if I'll have to do any additional work to make them fit. I've hard time finding solid answers.

I've had 285/75/17s for some time and while it has been great at the local offroading/rock climbing park, it's kind of terrible in every other way.

Tires are heavy and so you will have more powerloss as compared with any tire that is lighter. Nearly all alignment places will NOT be able to get you a good alignment and this was the last draw for me. Once these tires wear out, I'm going back to 285/70/17. Those still require a bit of work in the wheel wells and CMC, but a regular alignment will work.

If you do go for the 34's, be ready for lots of damage in the fender from rubbing, be prepared to hammer the shit out of the pinch weld and other things for clearance. The one thing that made the most difference was a proper alignment. FInd a good alignment shop before and make sure they will do an alignment with 4+ degrees of caster.

Another issue was the local tireshops never had 285/75/17 in stock and I always had to come back for a second visit or call to make sure they had one before I went.

I'm definitely not a hater but I don't think I would have made this choice if I had read something like this before buying.

Oh, almost forgot. I have very adjustable camberg UCAs. You will need good adjustable UCAs for the alignment shop to get a proper alignment with four plus degrees of caster

Requires CMC, pinch weld, plastic trimming, and most importantly UCA 4+ Caster.

I have 17x8.5 O offset, 275/75/17, JBA UCA, 4.5 Caster and .75" wheel spacers (to clear uca). Zero rubs on pavement.

33 to 34 power loss is probably very minor.

Got the KDMAX tune. Now i dont even notice the 285/75/17s. Feels faster than stock now. Truck feels like it lost 500lbs after the tune

34x10.5x17 would fit better than 285x75x17 but still going to take some massaging for it to fit properly.

Big difference is you can get 285/70/17 in SL rated tire whereas 285/75/17 is going to be heavier rated. That along with rotational mass and a spedometer that is off is going to be reflected in the mpg.
