Wanted to see if anyone can help me figure out if it can just be a fuse or if it is the spiral cable. If it does end up being the spiral cable then if anyone’s heard of any recalls?

Spiral cable is likely, unfortunately. But definitely check the fuse and horn first. To test horn, look for voltage at the horn connector. Or wire power to horn directly. First method is quieter.

    No recall here.

Avoid cheap aftermarket spiral cables. It sucks, the oem part is expensive. But I recommend this based on first hand experience.

It could be any one of a number of things:

    Blown 10 Amp Horn Fuse.
Poor ground at the horn mounting surface.
Broken power wire going to the horn.
Broken Spiral Cable behind the steering wheel.

Check the fuse with a test lamp or meter. In the under hood fuse panel. Replace as needed.
More than likely a broken spiral cable. No recall on these. Hold the horn activated and move the steering wheel side to side. Does it blow when moving it? If so it is the spiral cable. Easy replacement.

Make sure the horn mount has a clean ground connection to the frame. Take a wire and touch it to the + battery terminal and the wire connection on the horn assembly it should blow if you have a good ground mount. If it doesn't the horn is defective.

You can power the horn, check fuses, and check for voltage at the connector.

hopefully the spiral cable didn’t just magically fail on its own, as opposed to someone breaking it

I bought a cheap spiral cable on Amazon, works fine so far (changed in September).
