    Been a long time.

love my 2nd gen but I have had it for over a decade. It is going to be really hard to let it go…. If that’s what I do.

turned 51….. house is paid off and I have a couple options.

    1. Cybertruck
    2. Brand new Tacoma…… probably the hybrid
    3. New 4 Runner and drop up to 10,000 or so into my truck….. not sure where…. And keep it.

here is a recent picture. New wheels. And fully outfitted with new katzkins.

    what would you do.

Me personally, with the listed options I'd buy a 4runner and run the 2nd gen till it dies.

+1 to this. Second place option would be the 4G Taco but I’d wait a year or two.

And a big ol’ Hell Naw to the Cyberturd. Never ever ever.

New Taco or the 4Runner and keep your current. That other option doesn’t sound great. Rivian maybe. But I’d still go Toyota at a minimum.

    Probably none of those.

Newer stateside Toyotas are less reliable.
Toyota does not bring their best. Their best is probably a diesel 70 series LC.

Among the many other competitive vehicles out there, that includes Lexus which comes with more powerful V8's.

Why get rid of it? You know it’s full history, already well built rig…why start a new project and probably end up sinking another 10k into it on top of the purchase of the truck.

Drop $10k on current truck but don't know where? Do you just have an itch to spend some money because you can? No shame it that, I get it.

cyber trucks rust worse than a taco. Just keep what you have and run it, no need to keep up with the jones

A legit question. The answer is yes. Been driving her 12 years and with no mortgage payment and having invested in stock market for 30 years,,,,,, having no car payment for a decade helped with that, I am about to have an extra 3000+ a month.

That totally make sense actually. So, that being said, in your situation if your dead set on spending the $ on some form of transportation, I'd probably be giving a strong look at the hybrid Tacoma in a few years. Tesla cars are pretty sweet, but that truck is just so ugly, and the infrastructure isn't there yet. A 4 runner could be nice. Pouring the $ into your current truck would be fun to an extent, but you don't even have a plan, so that excitement would wear off sooner than later when you realize you still have the same truck.

The funny thing is with this truck as the longer I own it............. the more I like it. I just start to want that new shiny 'thing'. The one big benefit of holding onto it as there are less and less of them which makes it more unique. I will have to do some research but I was thinking today. That some new rear armor (with a swing gate tire mount), upgraded exhaust, new headlights............................................. and perhaps supercharging (like someone suggested) might just keep me entertained for another 5-10 years.

Wife told me she really does not want me to get the cybertruck. She really is in love with the new Vette.

    -y pipe
    -catback
    -sliders
    -HC rear bumper

still not going to have diesel, solid axle, 4:1 tcase, backseat room, etc like a gladiator rubicon

I’d probably look at one of those if I could afford it.
Or potentially importing a troop carrier like LC or 110 Defender.

I don’t really get the Cybertruck. Electric vehicle range goes down when a consumer is turned on. Lift and tires (if even possible) are consumers.

finding and waiting to charge at a crowded station doesn’t sound good.

Keep the Taco and get an older camry or highlander for when you want better fuel mileage and don't need a truck.

The newer toyotas absolutely are not built to the same standard as the older fully Japanese ones.

My 04 Camry will probably outlast any newer car from any make.

Unless gas money doesn't matter to you. I'm just curious what your stipulations are. What is your end goal here, the purpose for a new vehicle?
