Sadly they dont make much of a difference to thieves, it only deters opportunistic thieves. Although, I'd imagine if you're parked next to someone without a lock and you have and they only have time to steal one they'll probably go for the other car. There are a lot of videos out there though you can watch to see how trivial it is to bypass lock nuts especially if you dont mind just smashing your socket onto the lug.

I've been hearing this has been a growing issue in San Diego. Definitely want to do what you can to secure your wheels. Nothing is theft proof, but you can at least make it harder

thief.jpg Park off the street. If I had to park on a residential street, there is a lot of stuff I would remove from my truck. Even still, years ago a fricken thief cut off a catalytic converter from my old truck, parked in my driveway and fifteen feet from where I sleep, and I didn't hear a thing.

I do, but our drive is only big enough for 1 of our vehicles and I try to rotate them as much as possible. Our street is narrow as hell and both vehicles have been dinged twice.

Since they already stole from three vehicles in a close vicinity, I feel like they might head elsewhere for now. I doubt they want to get rolled on since everyone maybe on high alert. I don't know, we'll see. I just wanted to share if anyone lives near.

In the 8 years we've lived on our street, I've only seen 2 attempted home break ins (one at my house), 1 catalytic stolen and a full blown riot. I've been pretty vigilant protecting our shit. If my stuff gets stolen, it wouldn't be a total loss, $500 deductible for a new set of wheels and 35s? Would be the end of the world lol.

If you don't already get some cameras or at the very least motion activated lights that might look like a camera. Neighbor across the street from me had his catalytic converter stolen from his stock tacoma but mine (lifted for easier access) was untouched. I'm guessing they saw my cameras and/or my shield and didn't bother; they didn't even get close enough to be on camera though so guessing it was the cameras.

Ya we have both. The bummer about my dashcam is that it's wired in to a always live fuse, which is fine. But because I don't drive my truck every single day, the cam will drain the F out of my battery. So with that said, I have to turn it off some nights. Parking mode doesn't turn on when doing this.

I was thinking about making stickers that say "smile asshole! You're on camera" or "I see you" and slap them on the wheels for now :D

Get a battery tender and an extension cord. I only take mine for trips so it lives on the tender sadly.

What part of San Diego. I have lived in 92131 for 38 years, there's a bit of increased activity by the dirt bags in this area.

Harbor Freight has a small solar panel with suction cups you can put int the window, It will keep your battery topped up. Used them on an RV that sat for 6 months and it started right up.
Wire the solar panel to the battery with ring terminals should be good to go.
Charge regulator optional should be ok without it unless you go with a larger solar panel.

I have seen the standard front Toyota diff on a 4R hold the power from a 2JZ with a HUGE turbo and it was holding up just fine. But I guess once it happens we shall find out what happens.

Oh you mean the class 4 rapids? They got pretty gnarly but it didn't get as bad as it has in the past now that I added another 15" culvert tube I got a 24" tube I have yet to install, that should do the trick, now I just have to rip up my driveway again and put it in.

Its holding up rather well! I still have a few things to work out but its improving a little bit all the time...chipping away.
The problem is I only have one Jason but I need 4 of them ideally. Come on clone technology, hurry up please before I get too old to have a clone worth making, haha...

On another note, thank the baby Jesus that the rain has stopped, not a huge fan of falling water.
