This is my first post and cannot locate a thread on this particular topic. If there is one I apologize in advance.
Just purchased a 2016 TRD Sport with 75,000 miles on it that has a 4,000 mile warranty. it runs great but is it normal with the Atkinson cycle engine that came out in 2016 to have some white exhaust for roughly 30 seconds in 60 degree weather after starting then it goes away?
    Regards, Joel

It’s common for moisture in exhaust to burn off. We often see it in cool weather. every vehicle I’ve owned has done this.
If it’s actually smoke (like oil burn), then No, that’s not normal.

The engine runs on both injection for about 20-25 seconds from startup to warm up cats. Direct injection happens ~40° of crankshaft angle (during the combustion cycle).
I would check your ecu calibration and see if it is most recent for 2016-2017 models. People mentioned in the past that 2016 and some 2017 were blowing white smoke

It’s water vapor. As stated it’s the dual injector cycle that runs immediately after startup. Increases the internal heat quite a bit faster than just one injector set. Also sounds pretty damn good…at least with the trd exhaust.

White smoke would be coolant and would linger for a few minutes and would have a sweet smell.

Blue smoke is indicative of oil.

Smoke that smells like marijuana is probably marijuana.

Dealer diagnosis, water vapor exhaust, totally normal! Peace of mind...
