That's just not true though. If your Jeep brake fluid is turning brown that quickly, you have other issues going on.

    This.

So you don't change your oil, but you check the filter housing?

I'm just at the point for my 20,000 mile service and 2nd FREE oil change. I'm having the transmission fluid done because thats one job I don't want to undertake. The way I'm looking at it is the break in point is over and any further wear will be very little. If its done now, It'll be set for a long time. Other maintenance, grease/rear differential etc are easy enough. I just don't have the inclination to try doing the transmission myself.

It's your money, but the transmission fluid absolutely should be fine at 20,000 miles. No need to change it due to "break in"

You can save lots of money by doing yourself the maintenance. I have done it to my two Toyota vehicles.

You need to change the automatic transmission fluid every 60,000 miles or 6 years. Drain and refill. I change the engine oil every 5,000 miles or 6 months. I buy the engine oil and automatic transmission fluid from Toyota dealer. I don't buy aftermarket parts for my Toyotas.

Nonsense. The only fluid changes the Warranty and Maintenance Guide for my 2019 calls for at 30k is oil and filter. Everything else is an “inspect” unless harsh conditions driving.

Dealers try to make money no matter what!
They exist to make money, not to help their costumers. Unfortunately, that's the true about dealers.

Your posts are "zero for three"; epic fail.

Yes, dealers exist to make money, if they didn't they wouldn't stay in business. That said, the best dealers, the ones who make the most money over the long haul, bend over backwards for their customers.

What's wrong with making money? Some people like that big stack of maintenance receipts in the glovebox. Give em what they want..

Maybe the ATF have to buy from Toyota dealer, but there are plenty high quality brands of engine oil around. Mobile 1, Valvoline, or Pennzoil, WalMart is the least expensive. Apparently, Amazon sells Royal Purple the cheapest, but shipping to some locations might be issues for any petroleum products.

If you're only going to drain and fill do it every year since you'll only get about 4 quarts out that way. A full service will do 12 quarts. And actually clean.

Just slapping new pads on won't actually do you a whole lot of good. Obviously it's better than worn out pads, but if you're not replacing rotors or getting them resurfaced, you're missing out on a lot of braking capability. Plus, if your rotors are warped or scored from heavy use, you're going to ruin your pads faster.

And since you're at 60,000, you may as well do a brake fluid exchange as well.

I would argue this is completely false, changing pads before the rotors are damaged will not negatively impact braking performance; conversely, having rotors resurfaced removes material which lowers their fade resistance, so if anything, not having them resurfaced is better (assuming the rotors are in otherwise good shape).
